Calling all Visitors!

Our guest room is 99% done!  We still need a few accessories, but for now the guest room is done! So drumroll please.......
I selected this drum shade for a more casual feel in the room.  Side note: the previous owners negotiated to take all the light fixtures with them and we had to pick out all new light fixtures and have them installed.  Part of that process was fun since we got to pick out the perfect lights for our style...but choosing all new light fixtures before you actually live in a house is hard.  We were very pleased at how this one turned out!

This room was also originally pink....pink...pink EVERYWHERE!  We are talking pink walls, trim, ceiling, window, closet and doors....all PINK!  I spent several days repainting over all that pink!!

These before pics don't truly show the amount of pink.....but no more pink!

The bedskirt is one of my favorite things about this room.  I actually made it!  I cheated a bit though...I bought a white bedskirt and measured, cut and sewed the fabric to the white bedskirt...what do you think?

So come one, come all!  The Londry B&B is now open for business!

Nailed It!

There have been LOTS of DIY projects going on over the past couple weeks.  We decided to finally update our guest room...but with a limited budget.  I wanted to do something a little different, but again with a small budget.  So I started with the bed.  I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a new bed/headboard so I made my own.  I love the look of nailhead trim like this one from Williams-Sonoma Home...
.....but don't have $1000 to spend on a headboard. So we bought the supplies and we measured...
Then have your handyman cut the plywood to the right size...
Next I covered the plywood with quilted batting and stapled it....
Then cover it with your fabric and staple it to the back of the headboard....

Now for the nailhead trim.  I purchased the kit online...

Get your tools together....
Now for the hardest part, keeping the trim in a straight line.  I can tell there are places where it is not perfect, but hey thats what happens with DIY!

Then have your handyman attach 2 X 4's to the back of the headboard so you can attach it to the bed frame...
And voila!
I will be back soon with more DIY from our guest room!

Up to Date

We have had some major computer/internet problems around here....the day we get one problem resolved it seems another one comes up...but I think we finally have internet, a new computer and now a new wireless internet router!  I am hoping our technology issues are behind us and I can start blogging again!

So what have we been up to?.....
Went to Chapel Hill to see Page, a college roommate, get married!  We had such a great time catching up with our college friends!  Canterbury girls I miss you so much! Congratulations to Page and Justin!!!

And Riley's first trip to the lake.  She was in heaven, but even 6 hours of swimming and attention did not wear her out...
And of course it is that time of year again....
We have spent the past three weekends out of town supporting our team...GO PACK!!!

We also wanted to wish both Leighton and Walker a very Happy Birthday!!!  We got to attend Walker's train party and had a blast!
We were so sad to miss Leighton's first birthday party, but heard it was adorable!  Wish we lived closer:(
