Never Grow Up...a Peter Pan and Tinker Bell Party!

Never Grow Up!  I keep telling them that, but they just wont listen.  We spent a few weeks discussing what to do to celebrate turning 6.  I suggested lots of venues and themes and they finally said they really wanted a party at home.  I agreed to this if they could narrow guest list down to 5-6 friends each.  Then we picked this adorable theme.  The Peter Pan theme allowed me to also use pirate and fairy activities and foods.
This is the first year they could really help and give input.  Ellie loved making these little decorations.
I had a baby shower at the house a few months ago and we made a balloon garland.  They insisted on having one for the party!

The twins actually made these pops.  This was Ellie's creation and a crowd pleaser.
Bobo loves PB&J so I knew we needed to serve some at the party.  I love how the Tee Pee B&J's turned out!
My favorite thing about a party is probably the invitations and the cake!  The bottom layer was almond cake with vanilla buttercream and the top gluten free chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.  We saved the top layer for our family celebration later.
About a week before the party the radar showed it being cold and rainy so I got the kids to help me come up with a bunch of activities to entertain their guests.  Thank God we did because it was in fact cold and rainy!
We made Pixie Dust, fairy bracelets, drew fairy gardens,  made treasure maps, pirate portraits and much more!

I kept decor pretty simple and used a lot of stuff we had around the house.
Each guest got to dress up!

This sweet boy stood here for 20 minutes asking how much longer.  Can you tell he was excited?
The kids all loved the activities!
We also had several games like this one where we timed each kid and they tried to pick up as many pretzels with Captain Hooks hand in a minute.
We had most of the party in the basement.  I covered the ping pong table and had the crafts and games around there.
After everyone arrived and had a chance to start some crafts and get dressed up we sent them on a treasure hunt.  We had a girls hunt and a boys hunt.  Each team had about 7 clues that took them all over the house.  They absolutely loved this!!!!  At the end was a stash of chocolate coins!

Next was piñata, food and cake!  It had warmed up a little (still raining of course) so we did these activities outside on our covered patio.   I love that we got to use these areas because normally we are in the kitchen and screened in porch.

We have a pond in our backyard and most neighbors have these small boats.  We washed ours and a neighbors out and had the kids eat in the "pirate ships".  They of course thought this was so cool.  I loved it because it was cheap, easy and went along with the theme!
The group of kids that came were all good friends, but also everyone knew a few people and met a few new friends.  Some knew each other from school, pre school, sports or ballet or from around the neighborhood.  It was so neat how it all worked out.

Overall it was such a sweet party.  Bobo and Ellie have the sweetest friends and I loved making these memories at out house!
Towards the end of the party Ryan's family came by and this little cuties stole the show!

Oh man I love this family of mine.
