2 Months

My two little twins are two months today!!!!  We have officially been home from the hospital for a month and are loving every second of being together as a family 24/7!  We are incredibly lucky to have these sweet little ones.

The twins are eating 7 times a day: 6AM, 9AM, Noon, 3PM, 6PM, 10PM and 2AM.  This means we feed them before going to bed and only waking up once in the middle of the night for the 2 AM feeding!!!  Love that they are on a great schedule and more importantly on the same schedule as each other.  Our favorite times of the day are 9AM and 6PM because this is when they are the most awake and happy.
Most mornings Ryan gets up a little before 6 and takes a shower.  We go get the twins around 6AM and feed them and they go right back to bed.  They wake up around 8:45 and I change diapers and feed them.  Then play-read a book, practice tummy time, sing songs, kick, squeal and if its nice we go for a walk!  Around 10:15 they go down for a nap.  Wake around 12 and feed, change diapers and play again until 1.  Nap from 1-3 and again feed, change diapers and play.  If I need to get out of the house or run an errand I usually do it during the 4-6 nap time.  Ryan is home when they wake up at 6PM and we give baths, feed, change diapers and play.  At night we also have a little dance party and read them a story before bedtime at 7:30.  We do a dream feed at 10PM before we go to bed.

They are officially out of Preemie clothes and in Newborn!  Both still wearing Newborn size diapers.  Graham got circumcised this past week and was such a big boy!  The twins also had their first overnight at Mimi and Pop's lake house.   Last month the only place I went with the twins was the Dr...now I take them all over with me.  We have been grocery shopping, to the mall and out to eat a few times!  We get alot of attention wherever we go!

Graham:  You currently weigh 9 lbs!!!  You are getting to be such a big boy!!!  You are our 0-60 baby.  You are either the sweetest, most mellow baby...or you are hot headed and mad!  You usually wake up starving and fussy, but as soon as you have a full belly you just relax and are so sweet and snuggly!  You are eating around 3 oz bottles at each feeding.  You are getting really good at tummy time and starting to smile which melts our hearts every time.  You love playing with your sister, love music and snuggling with me and daddy.  You still LOVE your paci and Wubbanub!

Ellie: You currently weigh 8.5 lbs.   You are still the most patient little girl EVER!  You have to be the worlds easiest baby...makes having twins very easy.  You sleep great at night and would probably be sleeping through the night if we didn't wake you up at 2AM when Graham wakes up ready to eat.  You usually stay awake during one nap a day, but you just lie in the crib wide awake.  You love looking at bright colorful objects and haven't smiled yet, but you are very animated still.  Your eating a little less than 3 oz at each feeding.  You love being on your tummy so  much the minute we try to do tummy time, you fall asleep.  You can actually fall asleep in any position at any time.  You are not a big fan of the paci, but are trying to figure out how to suck your thumb which is adorable!
I wish I could bottle up this age for later.  You are both just so sweet and still so tiny.   Although you are both tiny you have more than doubled in size!!!  Hope you don't continue to grow quite so fast.  Everything you do is adorable- sneezes and yawns are my favorite! We are excited about the summer months to come- late night walks, pool play dates and trips to get frozen yogurt!  We have so much fun with you and I know it will only get better as you get older!!

The Twins Nursery

After finding out we were having twins we switched our guest room and originally planned nursery so the twins could have the bigger room with two closets.  My next task was decorating a nursery for both a boy and a girl.  This was a lot harder than I thought, but I absolutely LOVE the final result!

Ryan and Papa put up beaded board and installed a dimmer switch for late night feedings.
So lucky to have such handy men around!
While Ryan waited for me to make up my mind about all the details in the nursery, he kept busy putting cribs together and installing shelves for storage in the closet.
Then after a few months of ordering and making decisions.....VOILA!  My starting point was this small scale gray wallpaper.  I HAD to have it!!!!  I have used the same concept in every room in my house....find something you love and can't live without and design the rest of the room around that.
I bought a dresser on Craigslist and refinished/painted it and replaced the hardware.  Really pleased with the way it turned out!
Mr Happy Apple on this shelf has been in my family since I was little.  It is one of the only items that has been passed down through all the years and all my brothers.  Really neat to see the twins playing with it now.
Here is a closer look at Grahams crib.
Here is my precious lil sleeping baby boy....
Here is Ellie's Side.
Here is our sleeping beauty....
It took me a while to find art work that I really liked that was not too girly or boyish.  I fell in love with these animal prints and had them custom framed.

I use a local lady for all my sewing needs...Lisa you rock!!  I love all the details she put into the crib bedding and curtains!
My best friends are twins and their mom had this Twin Poem in their nursery growing up.  They gave me a copy of it and its such a special addition to the nursery.  I still tear up every time I read it!

And of course the closets are a fun place to peak at too.  Look at all the clothes these two already have!!!  We love finding matching boy/girl outfits.
Here is a supply of diapers, wipes and trash bags...this is a little over a months supply in our house!!!!
After all my hard work, I am truly in love with this room.  I love it even more now that my sweet babies are home:)

Take Out Supper Club

April is our month to host our Supper Club.   We knew with two little ones at home we would not want to do too much, but we didn't want to cancel because we really look forward to getting together with our friends.   We decided to have a low key theme and went with Take Out!  Everyone got their favorite take out for the item they signed up for.
Although we didn't want to go too crazy for this dinner party we did get several "props".  We went through several drive-thrus in search of some decor!
While spending a lot of time uptown at the hospital we tried out several new restaurants.  One of our favorites was Viva Chicken.  We decided to get their rotisserie chicken as our main dish.

Our menu included:
Appetizer Spring rolls from Thai Taste
Salad from Mama Ricottas
Sides- Collards, Mashed Sweet Potatoes and Macaroni and Cheese from Dish
Main dish- Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken from Viva Chicken
Dessert- Cupcakes from Polka Dot bakery
It happens to be Ashley's Birthweek so Beth bought her a special cupcake and we helped her celebrate!
This group is so much fun and willing to do anything for a good laugh...including wearing all the cheesy fast food hats we had as decor!
We ended the night with fortune cookies:)
And of course Graham and Ellie were perfect little angels and stayed up long enough to say hey and then slept the rest of the time!

Playtime!!!

Every morning after 9AM feeding the twins are wide awake.  We usually spend this time "playing" on a big blanket with each other.  I find myself constantly laughing at their interaction and had to capture some of it on film.  In general so far Ellie seems to be a little quiet trouble maker and Graham is loud and sensitive...look how this played out.
Both babies just playing and looking at each other.  So sweet right??...
When Ellie thought no one was looking.....
The second Graham started crying she put her little hand over his mouth like she was trying to make him stop before I heard and she got in trouble....
Once he settled down she got this smirk on her face....
These two have us constantly entertained!!

Fist Bath!

We are having a blast being home with these babies!  Love being a part and capturing all their firsts.  One of our favorites so far was their first real bath.  First I have to give a shout out to Emily Shwedo and Betsy Lesher (Emily's mom) for our bathroom decor.  Emily made personalized canvases for a baby shower she threw me and we loved them so much we decided to hang them in the bathroom.

Betsy made this AMAZING custom painting for Graham and Ellie.  It includes tooth brushes (since Ryan is a dentist) and their monograms!  We absolutely love it and still can't believe how talented that family is!!!

Miss Ellie: Once again you showed us so much patience!  You seemed to really like the bath and love getting to snuggle with dad in a towel right after.

Mr Graham:  You did not cry as much as we expected!  We even took your paci out for a few minutes and you seemed to really enjoy the bath.  You scared yourself when you would splash the water around while you wiggled:)  You also love being wrapped up in a warm towel right after a bath and snuggling.

After your baths we love rubbing lotion on you both...can't get over that baby smell that lotion has.  We also have started reading you a bedtime story after your bath as part of your nightly routine.

Love these two babies, especially when they are squeaky clean:)
